About Depression & Anxiety Counseling

Please know that anxiety and depression are not character flaws or signs of weakness. Anxiety keeps the nervous system on high alert, braced for a threat that may never come, while depression is often what sets in when the system has been on guard for too long. Both leave us disconnected from ourselves and from the life we long to be living.

We often try to manage the weight of it by staying busy, scrolling, overworking, or losing ourselves in shows, anything that offers temporary relief from the sorrow or fear sitting just beneath the surface. It might work for a while. But what we consistently avoid does not dissolve; what goes unattended tends to resurface as irritability, numbness, disconnection, or a quiet sense that life is happening at a distance.

In our work together, we move toward what has been avoided, slowly and with care. Drawing on attachment theory, polyvagal theory, and somatic awareness, we help your nervous system learn that it is safe to feel, remember, and grow. We look at the patterns that formed early and the stories you have been carrying, giving them the space and attention they were never given.

The goal is not just the absence of symptoms, but access to a life of genuine aliveness, one that feels spacious, grounded, and truly yours.
